You can add a graph to your dashboard by clicking "Add" in the top right corner.
Graphs in June have two main sections:
Setup – Configure the data and structure of your graph.
Design – Customize the appearance of your graph.
A. Setup
The setup section includes four or five options, depending on the type of graph you select:
Measure
Object
Event
Audience
1. Measure
There are six types of graphs available:
Active users: Counts the number of users or companies that performed the selected actions in the "Event" section.
New users: Tracks the first time an action was performed.
Features: Counts occurrences of specific features and allows comparison between multiple features.
Retention: Calculates the percentage of users or companies that returned to perform an action over time.
Funnel: Shows the percentage of users completing a specific sequence of steps.
Power users: Displays the distribution of how often active users engage with your product over days or months.
2. Object
Defines the level at which the graph is generated—by default, graphs are based on users or companies. Any additional objects you’ve added in your settings will also appear here.
3. Event
For every graph, you can define what the analysis should be based on by selecting events. June provides four options for event selection:
1. Smart events
Any event: Includes any user-triggered event.
First event: Captures the first time a user triggers an event. (Only available for Retention and New Users graphs.)
2. Track events
Track events represent actions performed within your product, recorded using June's track event method.
After selecting a track event, you can refine it further by:
3. Page views
Tracks when a user opens a product page, using the page event tracking method.
You can filter page views based on:
Path (e.g.,
/dashboard
)Title (e.g., "Dashboard Overview")
URL (e.g.,
app.example.com/dashboard
)
4. Combining events (AND/OR)
You can combine track events and page views using AND/OR conditions to fine-tune your analysis.
AND: The user must trigger both selected events.
OR: The user must trigger at least one of the selected events.
Depending on the graph type, different event selection options will be available.
4. Audience
Refer to this resource for a detailed guide on how audience segmentation works.
B. Design
The Design tab lets you customize the appearance of your graph, including:
Graph type (e.g., bar, line, area)
Calculation method (e.g., average, total, last known)
Size
Color
C. Additional Customization
You can also adjust the time range and scale directly in the graph preview on the right-hand side.
Other frequent questions:
Where can I find contribution graphs?
Contribution graphs are a visualisation type, for active users. Pick "active users" in Measure, then switch to the design tab, and pick "contribution graph", like this:
