5. Slack notifications

In June, you could receive Slack alerts for specific product events (e.g., "new workspace created" or "churn detected"). Here's how to replicate that setup depending on your stack:

If you use Segment

You can use the Slack Destination from Segment to send event-based messages directly to a Slack channel.
Here’s how it works:

  1. In Segment, go to Connections > Destinations, and add Slack as a destination.

  2. Configure a mapping to trigger messages based on specific event names or properties.

  3. You can customize the format of the Slack message using templates provided in Segment.

This is the simplest way to replicate June-style alerts if your events are already flowing through Segment.

If you use Amplitude

Amplitude doesn’t have native Slack notifications yet, but you can still achieve a similar result using Webhooks + Slack Incoming Webhooks:

  1. Go to Amplitude > Data > Destinations and set up a Webhook destination

  2. In Slack, create an Incoming Webhook URL for the channel where you want to post the notification.

  3. In Amplitude, use a custom alert or dashboard alert, and configure it to call your Slack webhook when a threshold is met or an event is triggered.

This setup gives you control over which events send notifications and how they appear in Slack.

6. Custom objects

June

Amplitude

  • Amplitude supports up to 10 groups. You can track up to 5 unique group types and 10 total groups per event. The Amplitude supports charts with nested grouping, let's say organisations where X and project is Y.

Available on: Account add-on

7. Computed properties

June

  • Available under Integrations > Computed Traits

  • Used to calculate properties like "last conversation was X days ago"

Amplitude

  • Use Computation to define traits based on user behavior

  • Found under Data > Computations

8. CRM sync

Event streaming and event property syncing are available through the Amplitude <> HubSpot integration. This allows you to forward Amplitude events and their properties directly to HubSpot, where they appear as custom events.

Group properties (like company-level traits) syncing to HubSpot are not supported

June

  • Go to Integrations, pick a CRM (e.g. HubSpot), and configure the sync

Amplitude

  • Go to Data > Destinations > Add Destination

  • Choose your CRM (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot), and complete the sync setup

Available on:

  • Cohort syncing is available across all plans, with some differences depending on the tier:

    • On-demand syncs are included in Starter, Plus, Growth, and Enterprise plans

    • Automated syncs are available on Plus, Growth, and Enterprise. Real-time syncs are only offered on the Growth and Enterprise plans

  • Note that a HubSpot Enterprise subscription is required to send custom events. Help doc here.

Stream events! Note that Amplitude can stream events to HubSpot, in addition to syncing cohorts, something that June didn't support.
